Founded in 2014, Selina is a hostel/hotel chain geared specifically towards digital nomads. There are currently more than 110 locations around the world, each with its own unique “flare” and aesthetic. The company’s focus on remote workers, wellness, and stylish accommodation sets it apart from other hostels.

The Selina Hostel in Antigua is a cozy and colorful location that seamlessly blends the signature “Selina style” with traditional Guatemalan decor.

Similar to just about every major building in the city, Selina Antigua has a large courtyard and a rooftop terrace with some of the best views in town.

Selina Antigua Location

Selina Antigua Location

Antigua is a pretty compact city, so it would be difficult to be too far from the center; that said, Selina Antigua is just about as central as you can get. The hostel chain is located directly next to Iglesia de la Merced, a 5-minute walk to the Santa Catalina archway, and a 14-minute walk to the Antigua Bar Crawl!

Selina Antigua has a wide range of rooms, from budget hostel accommodation to comfortable premium suites.

1. Dorms

Selina Antigua has several shared dorm rooms available, ranging from 14 beds (cheapest option) to 4 beds (most expensive).

2. Small Private Room (Shared Bathroom)

This is the most budget-friendly private room available. The room is pretty tiny, though it can technically fit two people (it would be a bit claustrophobic, though…). Selina advertises this space as being similar to a “train or ship cabin”. You will have to share a bathroom with other guests, but considering you get a private space, it is definitely a good deal.

3. Private Room (Private Bathroom)

This is definitely the best option for couples, especially if you are willing to shell out a bit more money for a private bathroom. This room is much bigger and has more storage and space to move around.

4. The Suite

This is a much bigger room with a more comfortable king-sized bed, couches, and even a full-size desk. The Selina Antigua Suite is a great choice for longer stays or remote workers who need a bit more privacy and comfort.

5. Premium Suite

The highest-priced room at Selina Antigua is essentially the same room as the standard suite, with slightly more space and a balcony. This is the most comfortable room in the building and comes with a great view of the city.

Amenities

Selina is one of the most expensive hostels in Antigua, but there is good reason for the high prices. It is easily one of the city’s most comfortable places to stay. Let’s take a look at some of the amenities Selina offers.

Selina Coworking Space

While certainly not the flashiest coworking space of all time, Selina Antigua’s coworking space is comfortable enough for most digital nomads. The space features several tables, desks, and private meeting room spaces.

The coworking space costs $8 USD per day, $33 USD for a weekly pass, and $118 USD for a monthly pass. But if you stay in Selina Antigua, there is no need to pay for a pass, as it’s included in your stay.

Xibalba Restaurant

Selina Antigua has an in-house restaurant with a pretty extensive menu. You’ll find everything from local Guatemalan dishes like ceviche, chapin, and carne asada to international dishes like burgers, pizza, etc. The food at the restaurant is pretty decently priced, but Antigua has a TON of other amazing restaurants, so make sure to explore other places rather than stick to the hostel restaurant.

Activities

The Club
Free Entry and a free shot when we get to the Club.

One of the best parts about staying at a Selina is that you’ll get to join all of the fun and (mostly) free activities that the hostel organizes. Throughout the week, the Selina staff will cycle through several different activities, including:

Antigua is a great place to party, and the best way to explore the city’s awesome nightlife is to join the Antigua Bar Crawl. You’ll get unlimited alcohol for the first 2 hours before you head to several of Antigua’s best bars and clubs. So, what are you waiting for?
